Republican Town Committee Caucus Tonight!
Written by admin on January 9th, 2008Kim Phillips of the J-I did a story in advance of tonight’s RTC Caucus:
“Republicans are set to meet at 7 tonight in the Manchester High School cafeteria and should expect to see changes in membership as the party enjoys a majority on the Board of Directors and plans for power on the Board of Education.
“I’m anxious to see who walks through the door,” Republican Town Chairman Wallace Irish Jr. said this week, joking: “Republicans are old people. We’re hoping to turn that around.”
Irish explained the committee was elected prior to his term as chairman began in March 2006. Consequently, he said, he expects a number of old faces to leave and be replaced by political newcomers.
With 95 seats - each party is allowed one member per 60 Republicans or Democrats in each of the town’s 10 voting districts - Irish said the group is looking to be “inclusive, not exclusive” in finding members.”
All registered Republicans are encouraged to come to the Republican Town Committee Caucus this evening and get involved.
