Blackwell Considers Senate Bid
Written by admin on February 12th, 2008Manchester Republican David Blackwell is considering a bid for the 4th District Senate seat. The Journal-Inquirer’s Kim Phillips had the story today.
Blackwell confirmed his plan to challenge six-term Sen. Mary Ann Handley in the 4th District this fall, saying his campaign treasurer will submit candidacy papers to the state within the next several days.
The extensive article notes Mr. Blackwell’s near-perfect voting record in the House of Representatives (only missing two votes), his standing in the community (Manchester Inititative for Supportive Housing, for example), and his desire to again be of service to his community. The article quotes Mr. Blackwell:
“People don’t have to wonder what kind of senator I’m going to be,” Blackwell said. “I’m a known quantity.”
Currently occupied by Democrat Senator Mary Ann Handley, the 4th is comprised of Manchester, Glastonbury, Bolton, and Marlborough.
