Irish Back for 2nd Term as Chair

Written by admin on April 15th, 2008

Last night, the Manchester Republican Town Committee elected by voice vote Wally Irish to serve as Republican Town Committee Chairman for 2008-2010.  The Journal Inquirer covered the story.

“I’m pleased and honored they invited me back to serve with them,” Irish said Monday after about 50 committee members elected him to another term as head of the group. “I’m back because there’s a lot to do in town.”

Irish wasted no time in setting plans for the Republican Town Committee, offering this:

To do this, he extended an invitation to Torrington’s town committee — that city also has a Republican mayor — to hold a joint social at Northwest Park this summer when the Manchester Silkworms play the Torrington Twisters.“Politics, yes politics, is the people’s business, but it’s also knowing one another,” he said.

But politics also is the first order of business, and Irish said he plans to submit a letter to the town’s Ethics Commission this week asking for an opinion on whether it’s OK for former Democratic Director Jason E. Doucette to serve on the commission.

In Wally’s acceptance speech, he emphasized how politics in Manchester should be about the good of the Town and how he looks forward to leading the RTC to even better days in the future.
