Intrepid Journal Inquirer reporter Kim Phillips had an article in today’s JI about Election Day for Manchester Republicans, which has yet to be posted online. Quotes from the piece:
“Republican candidates for the Board of Directors turned their party’s self-described “majority of three” into a majority of five Tuesday, as they squeaked out a 5-4 control of the town’s governing body for the first time since 1989.”
“But the appearance of a victory - especially in a town where Democrats outnumber Republicans almost 2-1 - made Republicans euphoric.”
“We did it!” Republican Town Committee Chairman Wallace Irish Jr. shouted to hollers of approval. “It’s a humbling experience to come from where we’ve come from.”
